佛山的方言堪称佛山文化的DNA, 因为它真的是独一无二！佛山诸多区镇乡村，方言种种，如果你到佛山五区各镇街走走，可能大吃一惊：这话明明听着像粤语，却怎么也听不懂？当然啦，人家说的是本土“佛send话”！
Foshan dialect is called as the DNA of Foshan culture, because it is really unique. Dialects of districts, towns and even villages in Foshan differ from each other. You may be astounded by it when wondering around different areas of Foshan: Why does it sound like Cantonese, but you can’t get it? It’s just because they are speaking Foshan dialect!
在佛山，你可能会听过外国人讲一口流利的普通话，也可能听过他们讲着正宗的粤语，甚至听过他们用粤语毫不违和地唱着歌仔，但是，你有没有听过他们讲地道的佛山方言？
In Foshan, you may have heard foreigners speak fluent Mandarin, and you may have heard them speak authentic Cantonese, or you even have heard them sing songs in Cantonese. But! Have you ever heard them speak authentic Foshan dialect?

“简直比考汉语听力还要难！！！”外国朋友已经笑得无法面对镜头了。三个老外学着佛山方言，表现得十分兴奋。
“It’s even more difficult than Chinese listening!!!” Foreigners are laughing and unable to face the lens. They are very exciting at learning Foshan dialect.
“佛山的方言十分有趣，不过要想学好方言，首先还是要学好汉语。” 外国朋友Reb说道。

看到每个汉语文字像迷宫一样的笔画，瞬间会感觉十分困难。我有学习日语，相比较觉得中文更加难学。不过，要坚信只要肯花时间，它就会变得简单。
Seeing that strokes of every Chinese character is like a labyrinth, you will feel it extremely difficult at that moment. I have ever learned Japanese, and it’s easier than Chinese. However, as long as you take time, it will be easy.

语音语调对中文来说很重要。因为如果你不能发出正确的声调，那么无论怎么努力，你都很难学会说中文。目前来佛山只有几个月时间，或者再呆一两年，我就可以用中文进行日常简单的交流了。
Tones are very important for learning Chinese, because if you are not able to make the right tone, it’s very difficult no matter how hard you try. So far I have been in Foshan for just several months. Maybe I can have daily communication with people after one or two years.

学习中文虽然很难，但是只要肯下苦工，它就会变得十分有趣，尤其在刚才学习了佛山的方言后，才知道佛山的语言文化如此丰富。

About Foshan dialect
佛山话是继客家话、白话、潮州话的广东第四大方言，是粤语的主体结构之一。佛山话有17声母、60韵母、9声调，保留了古汉语的入声系统及其发音特色。
Foshan dialect is one of the 4 major dialects of Guangdong following Hakka dialect, vernacular dialect and Chaozhou dialect, and it’s one of the main parts of Cantonese. Foshan dialect has 17 consonants, 60 vowels and 9 tones, which preserves the tone system and pronunciation characteristics of ancient Chinese .

作为一个具有深厚文化底蕴的千年古镇，其实关于佛山方言还有很多很多。传统的佛山方言，更多靠的是代代口口相传得以继承发扬, 希望这些可爱的佛山土话，有朝一日不是只能在博物馆或字典里阅读到，而是可以一直一直地活跃于佛山人的生活中。
As a thousand-year-old town with profound cultural heritage, there are still many Foshan dialects. Traditional Foshan dialect is mostly passed from mouth to mouth. We hope that such Foshan dialect will be always active in the lives of Foshan people rather than being read in museums or dictionaries.
