Actor hit by accusations of academic plagiarism

身为北京电影学院博士研究生的演员翟天临，因不知道“知网”是啥而身陷学术造假风波。近日，有微博博主爆料称，翟天临有一篇发表在某学术期刊上的论文曾被上传到知网，除去本人已发表文献重复比竟高达40.4%。（戳回顾）

2月14日，翟天临本人发表致歉信，称是虚荣心和侥幸心让其迷失了自己，并正式申请退出北大博士后科研流动站的相关工作。同一天，北京电影学院也在官方微博上发布了相关说明。（戳回顾）


北京大学光华管理学院也发布声明：

A Chinese TV actor, who also has a PhD from Beijing Film Academy and is a postdoctoral candidate at Peking University, found himself in hot water recently after allegations of plagiarism, which kicked off a new wave of discussions over academic misconduct in China. 

A Sina Weibo user accused Zhai Tianlin, 32, who most recently appeared in China's 2019 Spring Festival Gala on China Central Television, of plagiarism last Saturday. The user uploaded a paper by Zhai, which was published in an academic journal in August 2018, to a plagiarism software platform. The similarity score for the 2,783-word article was 40.4 percent after it was put through the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), a similar platform to Google Scholar, according to the Weibo post. 

Zhai has been mired in controversy since he asked in a live video in August 2018 what the CNKI was.

Chinese musician Lay Zhang has attended the 2019 Grammy Awards as an ambassador for radio station FM Donggan 101.

While Zhang has not been nominated for a Grammy, he says his attendance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles is only fueling his ambition to one day perform at the North American music industry's main awards show.

Zhang's latest album "Namanana," recorded in both Chinese and English, quickly soared to No. 21 on the Billboard 200 after its release last year, making him the highest-charting Mando-pop artist of all time.

Brad Pitt attended his ex Jennifer Aniston’s birthday party last Saturday, but a source tells PEOPLE his presence didn’t define her night.

“Jen didn’t really pay any special attention to Brad,” the source says. “They hugged and chatted for a bit, but Jen was busy making sure all of her other guests had an amazing time.”

As for why Pitt, 55, received an invitation to the actress’ 50th birthday bash at the famed Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, the source explains, “Basically, every single person who loves Jen attended. This included Brad. The party was a celebration of Jen’s life.”

“Brad, for a long time, was a very important part of Jen’s life. She debated back and forth with friends if she should invite him,” the insider continues, adding that the actress “was very happy that he showed up.”
